Kagezumi
There are various types of KAGEZUMI=KAGE (shadow)+SUMI.
===========================================================================
TSUMAGURO=TSUME (nail)+KURO (black) type. Photos 1,2,6.
TSUMAGURO is the most popular type KAGEZUMI, and it is normally high quality SUMI when
the KOI is younger, when it grows suddenly the high quality SUMI can
change into TSUMAGURO on the white skin. There is a chance it could end up
returning to jet-black high quality sumi and KAGEZUMI effect will no longer be
seen..
1.You can see jet black SUMI between the scales (right shoulder & near middle
of dorsal fin) on KAGEZUMI part, so we can expect the same quality SUMI will
come through on the other KAGEZUMI areas.
2.Will be too black when all the SUMI is established and finished
6.It has real SUMI only on gill plate and slightly less TSUYA & TERI.
Also it does not have MOTOGURO so it is hard to guess if the SUMI will come up
on the KAGEZUMI
parts.
===========================================================================
KOKESUKI=KOKE (scale)+SUKI (see through) type. 3.
*Opposite of TSUMAGURO type
It is said that KOKESUKI type sumi is very hard to establish.
3.As a case this SHOWA it has beautiful MOTOGURO and a nice MENWARE face, so
it doesn't matter so much about the sumi quality, we can expect the KASANEZUMI part to establish more for nice
balanced pattern.
===========================================================================
ASAGIZUMI=ASAGI+SUMI type 4.
This will take a long time to establish or never establish?
Some DAINICHI SHOWA have strong characteristics of this type of SUMI.
4. I'm sure this SHOWA was sold in the UK through Shirley Aquatics in the
Midlands a long time ago.
I'd like to see the resulting koi now if someone still owns it!
===========================================================================
AMIMEJO (reticulate, mesh, net) type 5.
This type SUMI is proof of an immature KOI and most of the sumi will fade when
placed in a blue bowl. Some lowest type NABEZUMI is included in this type SUMI.
5.This SHOWA is still NISAI and some KASANEZUMI looks to appear from inside of
the skin.
When this KOI gets older, it's KAGEZUMI can improve or change into different
type?
===========================================================================
There are so many different types of SHOWA and different types of progressing
SUMI.
If you have the chance to visit SHOWA breeders in JAPAN, you can check the
characteristics and the way the sumi establishes, by looking at his older age
KOI.
