AKA =Red
AKAMUJI = Red koi, with no other colours.
BENI = Red
BENISHITSU = Red Quality.
BUDO = Grape
DAN = Step
DOITSU = German, Mirror Scaled
FUKURIN = Shiny skin in between the scales
GIN = Silver
HI = Red
HIBAN = Red pattern.
HISHITSU = Red Quality. (lower quality than BENISHITSU)
HINPYOKAI = Koi Show
INAZUMA = Lightning
JARIZUMI = Scattered sumi (black)
KAGE = Shadow, scale showing light and dark shades
KIN = Gold
KIWA = the trailing (back) edge of a pattern.
KUCHI = Mouth.
KUCHIBENI = Mouth + Red. Red on lips or front of face.
MARUTEN = Red on head, normally in a circle.
MARUZOME = Kiwa (back edge of pattern) that follows the scale edge.
MENKABURI = Colour covering the face.
MEMWARE = Black pattern on a showa’s face.
MOTOGURO = Sumi (black) in the base of the pectoral fins.
MUJI = Single colour.
NI = Two
NIDAN = Two Step
ODOME = Area just before the tail where the Pattern stops.
ORENJI = Orange.
OZUTSU = Tail Tube.
RIN = Scale.
SAN = Three.
SANDAN = Three step
SASHI = Front edge of pattern, showing colour under scales.
SASHIZUMI = SASU (stab) + SUMI (black) Leading edge of sumi under the
scale.
SHIMI = Black spot or freckle.
SHIRO = White
SHIROMUJI = White koi, with no other colours.
SHITSU = Quality
SUMI = Back
TAIKO =TAI (body) + KO (height)
TERI = Shine
TSUYA= luster
TSUBO SUMI = Sumi (black) on white skin.
