Today I continued on with the repositioning of the water tank. From the time I cut the pipes yesterday, the whole farm has been without new water. Once I had cleared the hole of various pipes and concrete blocks which had fallen in, I then started filling the hole with soil. The tank was to be raised to plant room level which would put the tank around 6ft higher than it was while buried in the ground.

Just after i had started a delivery of salt arrived, one ton on the back of a pickup truck. It normally comes on a 7.5 ton truck with it's own fork truck, but not today. Fortunately just after we had started unloading the 25kg bags, Stuart turned up, having a couple of hours spare before his shift started. With his help we made short work of the salt and then my thoughts returned to filling the hole where the tank lived.

With a little briefing, Stuart took control of the 4 wheel drive dumper and I mounted the huge mound of stock piled soil kept for occasions like this in the digger. After about 9 or 10 dumper loads the hole was filled and just needed leveling and tracking in with the digger.

Then with the help of the digger, I dragged the tank into it's new position.
