Wednesday 12th March 2008.
All last night the wind was blowing hard and things hadn't let up by the morning. First thing I went on my inspection, tunnel 10 has stopped peeling itself back, there are 3 hooped sections without any covering. Further down at tunnel 13, things were still on the move, with more polythene torn back than last evening. It's funny now because when the roof let go in tunnel 10 3 weeks ago, that area seemed very cold compared to anywhere else, now it's quite warm compared to the bottom where 13 is uncovered, in fact it feels 'freezing'!
The birds must think they have suddenly been moved to the arctic, it is so cold and windy! Although I know both sets of Zebra finches had babies, I'm not so sure they are still alive. If anything would make them desert their babies, the noise and wind would do. I've got my fingers crossed, but I'm not so hopeful.
As the day has gone on, the wind has got stronger and stronger, the roof in 13 has ripped back another 2 bays, when will it stop?
This picture only captures one moment, I wish I could convey the whole scene of wind action and noise.
