Sunday 30th March 2008.
Time is racing away with me now, preparations are underway for the Open Weekend, this week will fly by and this time next week it will be all over!
Today was the first day of starvation for the koi, this is my normal practice for Open Weekends, the koi have no food for 6 days prior. This makes them travel better, as they do not fowl the water. They get a little fed up as the week goes on, for the first few days they are on the lookout for food all the time, but slowly they stop wasting energy and become less active.
Sorry for not posting any koi for sale pages over the last couple of days, I've been trying to get ahead of myself with the preparations so this week coming can be more committed to moving koi and photos of koi for sale. Lynn came to the farm for the day to give me a hand, she scrubbed the chairs off etc. All these sort of jobs would get forgotten without her!
Cassie has arrived in the west country from North Yorkshire and moved into a house share just down the road. She made a visit today to show her mother around, as she had traveled down with her yesterday to give Cassie a hand with the move.
I'm not sure how it has happened, but two of the baby Zebra finches have escaped from the aviary and are flying free, perhaps they went over my shoulder yesterday when I fed them? They are not going far and hopefully will not fly out through the roof, but it is risky as the open tunnel is only a few feet away.
One looks a little unhappy, it looks to be one of the younger ones and is not too good at feeding itself, but I think it will be ok. Fingers crossed!
