Saturday 15th March 2008.
Today with the help of Stuart we checked through a few nisai which I am growing on. These are some I selected after my autumn harvest featured in Koi magazine last September. Some of these will be grown on a little longer, others will come up for sale at the Open Weekend next month.
For some strange reason, my camera was playing up more than normal and for a change it was not my fault, or perhaps it was! It would not auto focus, so most of the photos are not good enough to reproduce, but after I cleaned the little 'window' thing that works the auto focus, all seemed fine!! If you saw the state of my camera, a Canon 300D covered in mud, you'll understand why it struggles to take pictures!
Anyway, here are a couple which will stay with me a little longer.
First is my pet! This Kigoi came from my chagoi spawning and was one of the larger tosai until it flock spawned in the mud pond, this hampered it's growth and is now playing catch-up.
It was 55cm in September, now 62cm.
Perfect and blemish free.

Next is a sanke, born from a Shintaro female and Momotaro male. As the koi grows, the face pattern will lift up onto head more.
Female 42cm in September, 49cm now.

This last one is being kept as a potential parent for the future. Although a long way from a show koi, it's qualities are just what I look for and it's pedigree is perfect!
51cm in September, 59cm now and just perfect for me.
