Monday 24th March 2008.
Even with the open weekend looming, I still have to keep the seasonal progress up to speed, so today was spent in the mud ponds with the rotovator. With the increased fresh air (wind through the roof) the ponds are drying well.
I worked my way in further on the last 7 ponds at the far end of the tunnels. Some still have a small amount of water at the deep end which I must find time to remove. Tunnel 13 is the biggest problem, as the roof is completely gone, every time we get some rain, it wets the ground and is not drying too well. The last few days has been dry so maybe tomorrow I will be able to work my way in a little, but today it was too wet.
Part way through my 'ploughing' the drive cable snapped and brought things to a stand still. I effected a temporary repair to get me going. I've no idea where I would buy a new one from, perhaps it'll stay temporary for a while!
The wind has blown quite a few of the side liners into the bottom of the mud ponds, things are looking a little messy at the moment, but it's not worth spending too much time on this until the roofs are replaced. I hope that will be before the open weekend, but I doubt it!
