Return to blog calendar

Today Tom and I netted up mud pond 14 which contained garden centre koi. The time is approaching when koi outlets and garden centres are looking to purchase new stock for the coming season. I have made room and have two concrete ponds ready to house around half of what will be available (10,000ish).

Once netted up, we placed them all in a couple of show vats. I have an order for 5,000 with a minimum size of 3", so the afternoon was spent sorting, 6.00pm arrived and the job was not complete, so the remainder were place in a floating net in the concrete pond and will be finished off in the morning.

I think I'll have around a thousand at 2" to 3", mostly showa anyone fancy have a go at being a small time koi dealer? Most of these are just as labeled, 'Garden centre' quality, but I'm sure there may be a few gems that slipped through the net:)

Because I cull so hard, the general standard of what is available tends to be higher quality than is available from other sources.
