The first two mud ponds are filled to the level I spawn at, this is around 2/3rd full. Later in the season they will slowly be topped up to the their maximum.

The water coming in from outside was at 10c, this is far too cool for new born fry and I have to wait until the water has climbed to 17c minimum. The weather has been very cold and windy, but today it warmed up a little. Although it has been cloudy all day, the sun has shone on and off raising the temperature inside a fair bit compared to previous days.

Today the water temperature has climbed to 12c, but I shall need a couple days of sunshine to raise the water to 17c for my planned midweek spawning.

Two new baby Zebra finches left the nest today, these are from the pair which the female died. The babies have been raised by the male and one of his babies from the earlier breeding.
