Monday 7th April 2008.
Well the weekend is over and we are all worn out. Last night, as we set off for home, Cassie asked what time in the morning she should arrive at work, I said when you fancy. She only started on Monday, yet has done seven straight days! She arrived only a little later than normal and went back to normal chores for starters and cleaned the filters which although normally done every day had not been cleaned over the weekend. This could not normally happen with my normal feed level, but as the koi have been starved for a week, it was not a problem and they kept going just fine.
I moved various koi from the floating nets into the ponds I'd planned for their new future as 'koi for sale' and gave them all their first feed in a week, they seemed to like that idea!
Once Cassie had finished the filters she went out into the marquee and started emptying and cleaning the vats. We needed to clear out of the marquee today as they would be coming to take it down tomorrow.
On Thursday the new roofs were put on, this made the tunnels secure and on Friday morning I let the birds free in their 2 acre home. Since then I'd not had chance to see them flying free, so today with a cup of tea in hand, I sat for ten minutes and watched them enjoy their freedom. They love it!
Once Cassie had finished the vat she went home, finishing just a little early. I'll make sure she ends up with time off to make up for her extra work.
I got carried away with little jobs and I noticed the light seemed to be getting a little dimmer. My phone rang, as I looked to see who was ringing I noticed the time, it was Lynn asking where I was, as she had expected me home early today. It was 7.30pm!
Knackered, we headed off to bed at 9.30pm!
